Project Background

In 2024, a well-known university in Singapore launched a new campus expansion plan, focusing on the construction of an intelligent computing center laboratory, aiming to provide teachers and students with an advanced and efficient scientific research and experimental platform. The core requirement of the laboratory is to build a high-performance, high-reliability intelligent computing cluster network system, which not only needs to meet the local connection needs of the teaching building and laboratory building, but also needs to achieve high-speed interconnection with the old campus.

Faced with various challenges in the early stages of construction, the school urgently needed a supplier with strong technical capabilities, comprehensive services, and a complete product system to assist in completing the full-process support from network architecture design to equipment deployment, and system operation and maintenance.

Customer Pain Points and Challenges

In the early stages of the project, the school faced several key issues:

  • The procurement process is complex and supplier coordination is difficult: Since the centralized procurement model cannot be adopted, the school needs to coordinate with multiple suppliers, which has a large impact and low communication efficiency;
  • Lack of network deployment experience and high project management pressure: The project leader does not have professional network implementation experience and the budget is limited, so the supplier needs to bear overall project promotion responsibility;
  • High quality assurance and after-sales requirements: equipment needs to provide a 5-year warranty and free network operation and maintenance testing at least once a year, but local suppliers can only provide a maximum of 3-year warranty, and operation and maintenance services require additional charges.

The above problems place extremely high requirements on the comprehensive capabilities of suppliers: they must not only have complete network solution capabilities, but also have rich experience in network deployment in universities, and at the same time provide cost-effective and full life cycle technical support at the service level.

Solution Design and Implementation

After in-depth communication and multiple rounds of solution optimization, we finally created a one-stop supply solution for the school, which successfully won high recognition from the school and established LSOLINK as the core supplier of the new unified network construction.

Intelligent computing network architecture construction

  • The core equipment uses NVIDIA MQM8790-HS2F InfiniBand HDR switch, which has 200Gbps high bandwidth and low latency characteristics to ensure stability and response speed in high-performance computing scenarios;
  • Equipped with LSOLINK 200G QSFP56 AOC optical fiber cable to achieve 1:1 network convergence ratio and maximize cluster utilization;
  • All devices are bound to the VPN instance MGMT to ensure network isolation and security and prevent external attack risks.

Campus backbone network construction

  • Adopts LSOLINK S6000 series 10G switches to support ultra-low latency and high throughput transmission;
  • Personalized design, providing upgrade and flexible expansion;
  • Configured with LSOLINK 10G SFP+ ER optical module, it can achieve a 40-kilometer long-distance connection and easily open a high-speed network channel with the old structure.
